Vertical Pressure Filter Replacement Data Pack
Automatic tower filter presses run under severe mechanical stress. Use this 6-step engineering protocol to specify replacement media without unbacked 1:1 claims.
Why Tower Press Cloths Require High Weft Tensile Strength
Unlike horizontal belt filters where the cloth moves continuously with a heavy rubber carrier belt, vertical pressure filter cloths index in a rapid zigzag pattern through multiple stacked horizontal chambers.
During the indexing cycle, the cloth is pulled over high-speed discharge and wash rollers under significant tensile stress. A weak weft yarn or poorly aligned seam pin can cause immediate diagonal twisting, roller jamming, or catastrophic tear-out. Sizing non-OEM media requires disciplined dimensional and mechanical verification.
The 6-Step Replacement Data Pack Workflow
Follow these steps to advance your tower press replacement cloth from initial inquiry to fully validated plant operation.
Step 1: Machine Family & Chamber Identification
Record press manufacturer (e.g. Metso Larox PF, Roxia TP, Diemme, Jingjin vertical), plate count (e.g., 12 to 24 plates), chamber dimensions (e.g., 1.6 m² to 6.0 m² per plate), and total active filtration area.
Step 2: Critical Dimensional Measurement
Measure exact continuous zigzag belt length (endless loop length in mm), width edge-to-edge (mm), edge eyelet or tracking punch spacing, and reinforced hem width. Cloth must be measured flat under zero tension.
Step 3: Photographic Documentation
High-resolution photos of the installed cloth: (1) seam connection area, (2) cloth edge passing guide rollers, (3) cake discharge angle, and (4) high-pressure wash roll assembly.
Step 4: Historical Failure Mode Recording
Audit the failure reason of the previous cloth: was replacement caused by cloth blinding from fine cake embedment, mechanical pin shear at the clipper joint, or edge fraying from tracking misalignment?
Step 5: Structured Trial Protocol (First 50 Cycles)
Run replacement cloth through a monitored commissioning protocol: measure initial filtrate clarity, cake release cleanliness at discharge roll, tracking wander during belt index, and high-pressure wash box spray coverage.
Step 6: Service Life Review
Compare cloth service life against target campaign hours before setting multi-roll annual blanket orders.
