How the machine works
Where the cloth sits
On a rubber-belt horizontal vacuum belt filter the cloth is not the belt that carries the load. It rides on top of a grooved rubber transporter belt, which carries vacuum through its drainage grooves while the cloth holds the cake and lets filtrate through. The cloth runs continuously, so it is a consumable, not a fixture: it tracks over rollers, is tensioned every pass, wears at the edges where it meets the seal, and is washed on every return. Belt widths in this family commonly reach 4.5–4.8 m. Joints are made as clipper, PAD or spiral seams, with an edge seal down both sides.
Role of the cloth
Three things worth knowing
- It is a running consumable. The belt does not fail once — it degrades, and the cake tells you first.
- Failure shows up as a symptom, not a spec. Start from what you see: seam / joint failure or belt tracking.

The Metso naming is the one that trips people up: Larox RB is the rubber-belt legacy line and it is in the table above. Larox RT / Pannevis is the indexing machine and it is not. Larox PF is a vertical tower press — that family has its own page.

How a replacement belt gets made
On most machines in this family the cloth already comes from more than one source — the OEM and third-party weavers both supply it. That is the market we work in, and we say so rather than implying a channel we do not have.
